One Teacher's Adventures

Let me tell you about the past few weeks... My job has changed since my last post.  I've been teaching Grade 4 this year full time, but I knew it would be ending, as I was covering a maternity leave.  I knew the other teacher was returning after our winter break and I'd have to find something new, but in a happy turn of events, she decided to only come back part time.  As she now has two small children at home, she decided to come back for Thursdays and Fridays, which means I get to keep my Grade 4's until the end of the school year for the beginning of each week!  I was so happy to keep my kids, and now I have an amazing partner teacher who I can learn from as well. As for the rest of the week, I have picked up a part time Grade 1 class on Fridays.  As a teacher who feels the most comfortable with Middle School students, I was terrified to go down to primary! I know I've been away from this blog for awhile; I've been enjoying my much needed summer break!  This is the first summer since I was 16 that I haven't worked full time.  I've been working part time as a sub in a daycare, and it has been so much fun, but I've also had real summery days off! I was excited about taking time off during the summer until the last few weeks of the school year when we were forced to go on strike.  I have definitely been hit financially, but the hot, sunny days are (almost) making up for it. I've been spending my free days at the beach, floating on Lake Matheson, day camping, reading, hanging out with my nephew, going to movies, picketing, reading, making clip art, trying not to think about and plan for next year (technically I'm not allowed to do ay official planning, as I am on strike and locked out of the job), and relaxing. It's been another wet and rainy Saturday in Victoria, so I spent the morning with brainteasers!  (I know, I'm a total nerd!)  When I was in school, I used to love rebus puzzles.   What are rebus puzzles?  They are word puzzles that illustrate a familiar phrase or saying.  I didn't know until today that they were called Rebus, but now that I know, I want to use the name as much as possible!   I found a couple online, then I decided to make some handouts for my English classes to use as a warm up.  While I was making them, I thought to myself, "Self, this would make a great TpT item!"  I created 36 pages of these brainteasing puzzles, one for each week of a school year, and bundled them up.  They are for sale at my TpT store, One Teacher's Adventures.
